Position: Director of Faith Formation (Birth through 8th grade)

Reports to: Lead Pastor | Status: Part-Time | FLSA: Exempt

Primary Focus: Develop a vibrant faith formation ministry that integrates the whole family into the life of the church. The faith formation ministry aligns itself with the mission, vision, and values of New Life. Create programs and activities that sustain relationships and intentionally move children and families toward a life of discipleship.

Responsibilities Include:​

• Organize and lead weekly children’s programs on Sunday mornings and confirmation programs on Wednesday evenings (during the school year).
•  Organize and lead annual children’s programs and special events, including Vacation Bible School, and a Christmas Program.
• Initiate, build, and maintain authentic relationships.
• Establish an inclusive, safe, and welcoming environment; foster discipleship, encourage thinking and sharing, and be aware and responsive regarding emotional and mental health among children and teens.
• Recruit and train volunteers for programs, and conduct background checks and child abuse protection training for volunteers.
• Coordinate calendar of activities with other church staff, and provide program schedules and information for publication on an ongoing basis. Maintain appropriate records and budget.
• Participate in staff and Board of Education meetings

Qualifications:

• Enthusiasm, creativity, and an ability to relate well with children and their families.
  
• Vibrant sense of faith and active participation in the church. 
  
• Bachelor’s degree, with coursework in elementary education or religious studies, preferred.
  
• Experience in Christian education as a leader or volunteer in a church or camp setting.
  
• Other experience leading children’s educational programs in a school, camp, or related setting.
  
• ​Strong organizational and communication skills.

Compensation:

• Half-time, 20 hours/week (on average)
  
• Compensation: $20-$25/hour with paid vacation
